The Aachen-based student initiative, AiXTalks e.V., is the organization team behind TEDxRWTHAachen conferences. Since the initiative foundation in 2013, we have successfully held six TEDxRWTHAachen conferences, hosting up to 300 attendees at a single event. Our team consists of dedicated students from diverse academic backgrounds, who share the same values and motivations for “Ideas Worth Spreading”.
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to spreading ideas worth sharing, usually in form of short, powerful talks at the annual conferences, bringing together interesting and impactful people to share what they are most passionate about. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but has grown to cover almost all topics – from science to business to global issues to art – in more than 100 languages. Attendees have described the experience as “the ultimate brain spa” and “a journey into the future in the company of those creating it”. Past speakers include Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson and Bono. TED nowadays features a variety of annual events, reaching from the flagship TED conference over TEDGlobal and TEDWomen to TEDYouth. As they take in the program, attendees and speakers from vastly different fields can cross-fertilize and draw inspiration from unlikely places. This is the magic of TED.
TEDx, x = independently organized TED event, supports independent organizers worldwide create a TED-like experience in their community in the spirit of “Ideas Worth Spreading”. At TEDx events, a screening of TED Talks videos combines with live speakers to spark deep conversation and connection at a local level.
